A photographic journey recounting and documenting the impact of the conflict on the war-affected communities.

Visitors are guided by the shots of Arianna Arcara (Italy), Mykhaylo Palinchak (Ukraine), Rafał Milach (Poland) and Sandra Schildwächter (Germany): images taken among the destroyed buildings in Donetsk, the Kharkiv region or the shelters in Kyiv. Moments of everyday life alternating with traces of the conflict, showing civilians training to become soldiers, but also volunteers preparing a hot meal for soldiers, doctors and journalists.

Two years after the start of the Russian invasion, the exhibition aims to offer a new opportunity to reflect on the causes and consequences of the conflict, emphasising the crucial role of photographic narration in times increasingly marked by disinformation campaigns.

Arianna Arcara, Mykhaylo Palinchak, Rafał Milach and Sandra Schildwächter were selected within the framework of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), one of the most prestigious cultural exchange programmes of the United States Department of State, which involves approximately 4,500 young leaders each year through its Embassies around the world.

The exhibition is promoted by the United States Embassy in Italy.

Two years after the start of the conflict, the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato is minting a bronze medal “Two years of Ukrainian resistance” in support of the young patients of the St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv.
